Welcome to The B-Town Trio

We are electric bass, drums, and keyboards and come from a diverse musical background. Our live performances are full of jazz standards, originals, and funk and Latin too, where we develop a sound incorporating our individual influences, fuse different styles, and create and improvise anew every performance.

More About the Trio

Mitch Pine

Mitch has been a musician most of his life, starting in his early years escaping to the family room and the old white upright piano, getting lost in improvising and banging away. Some early music lessons then learning by ear followed by an BA in music composition. Engaging in various musical activities for many years in the Boston area including some studies in the Third Stream dept. at the New England Conservatory. Many years with the jazz combo The Hub Cats along with continuing to write and explore music in the song and other formats.  Mitch has wide musical interests including jazz, classical, pop, R&B, rock, folk and ethnic genres. Living in Western Mass since 2003 he has had long stints with The Doug Hewitt Group and the No-No’s as well as free-lanced for other projects and gigs. He’s excited for the current project with B-Town trio, continuing to write new material and develop a unique sound incorporating the members’ various influences.

Jason Moczulewski

Jason Moczulewski grew up in Easthampton, Ma. Throughout grade school he played the drums in school jazz, marching, symphonic and pep band. He then went on to study jazz at Holyoke Community College. Deciding college wasn’t yet for him he moved to NYC where he played and recorded with many bands. After a year in NYC Jason received a call to audition for a show band out of Atlanta, Georgia. Jason earned the drum throne and traveled all over the US playing over 250 shows in one year. After the year he moved back to Massachusetts and has resided there ever since playing in groups ranging from Jazz, Funk, Ska/Reggae and Rock.

Jason OConnor

Jason OConnor has been playing the electric bass for more than a few decades and has performed at venues across the U.S., from Boston to L.A. to NYC. Jazz and funk are his mainstays but he also plays many other styles as well. Writing songs and creating on-the-spot improvisation are two of Jason’s favorite musical forms of expression. From slap to finger picking to bass chords, Jason is a versatile player who loves beautiful melodies and harmonies as much as grooves, rhythms, and beats.
